Doing
In the Alexander technique, ‘doing’ mostly refers to certain misdirected actions that can be observed in a person’s responses, behaviour, or manner of use in daily life. For example, often a person will put in more effort than is needed to perform an action or to reach a particular goal. They may do this by stiffening, tensing, over-straining, or trying too hard.
In modern life with its obsessive focus on achievement, most of us chronically over-‘do’ in one way or another.
